ADOT encourages motorists to use southbound state Route 51 to Cactus Road to avoid traffic expected to build up onTatum. For north local and business access during the closure, ADOT recommends taking Tatum south to Mayo Boulevard, Mayo east to Scottsdale Road and Scottsdale Road north to Loop 101. Meanwhile, Scottsdale is advising motorists to be aware that the intersection of Scottsdale Road and Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard continues to be restricted to one lane of traffic and one left-turn lane in all directions through late November.
Crews in that vicinity are widening Scottsdale Road from four lanes to six lanes and installing underground utility lines and working on drainage improvements.
City officials say plans are under way to install bicycle lanes and a landscaped median in the area.
