The Maricopa County Elections department will still be counting provisional ballots for the next three days and verifying about 1,000 votes on Mesa’s Proposition 300.

Official results regarding the Waveyward development probably will be declared next week, Mesa City Clerk Linda Crocker said.

The proposition would give Mesa the authority to enter into a financial agreement with the Waveyard development, a superpark planned for west Mesa near Loop 101 and Loop 202.

About 65 percent of ballots cast during Tuesday’s election were in favor of the measure, and Waveyard developers celebrated the results Tuesday night.

Provisional ballots include those cast by voters who showed up at polling places without proper identification. In those cases, voters have three days to show up at a county elections office and prove their eligibiilty to vote.

About 42,400 ballots were cast Tuesday.
