Cancer institute burglary foiled

Scottsdale police arrested a man they say attempted to break into the Arizona Cancer Institute after cornering him on the roof of the building late Monday.

With the assistance of a K-9 officer, police discovered Mark Marchbanks, 31, at the building at 7337 E. Thomas Road about 11 p.m. after he failed to respond to police orders to leave the building. He was arrested on suspicion of third-degree burglary and related offenses. Police said Marchbanks was trying to steal computer monitors.
