Two girls were flown to the hospital Wednesday after they were struck by a car in Queen Creek near Grapefruit Street and San Tan Boulevard.

The girls, 5 and 6, suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, according to Detective Aaron Douglas, spokesman for the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

Douglas said the girls crossed in the path of an eastbound car on San Tan.

He said the driver was not impaired and hasn't been cited, but the incident is still under investigation.

Terry Locke, spokesman for the Chandler Unified School District, said the girls are a kindergartner and first-grader at Patterson Elementary.
