An armed robber who stole numerous cartons of cigarettes and cash out of a store register early Friday remains on the loose.
Police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Diamond Shamrock, 5158 E. University Drive about 4 a.m.. A a clerk told police a man entered the store with a handgun, threw a green canvass duffel bag at him and demanded the clerk fill it with all the cartons of cigarettes. The alleged robber then told the clerk to open the cash register and grabbed the cash inside of it, according to police.
The suspect, who was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and jeans, was described as a Hispanic male in his mid to late 20s with a thin build.
