Paz de Cristo Outreach Center in Mesa received a grant from an unnamed donor that will bolster food supplies for the nonprofit just in time for its annual Thanksgiving Day dinner.
But that story isn’t common this year in the East Valley.
“Fortunately for us, we will be able to give what we give on Thanksgiving and Christmas because of that grant,” director Michael Boos said. “I’m seeing that all of the service agencies are struggling to meet their goals, and I know that some of them have had to make cutbacks and some of them have had to reduce what they can give.”
The following is a partial list of East Valley locations where free Thanksgiving supplies and meals will be available days before or the day of the holiday:
St. Vincent de Paul

9:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Paz de Cristo Outreach Center
424 W. Broadway Road
5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.
2051 E. Apache Blvd.
11 a.m. – until the food runs out
East Mesa Food Bank
1175 W. 12th Ave.
No prepared food on Thanksgiving, but they will distribute food today starting at 4:45 p.m.
The Pan de Vida Foundation
The foundation exclusively serves Queen Creek and parts of Pinal County. For a free turkey while supplies last, call or e-mail the foundation.
