Police are searching for a man who stole a woman's car from a Valero gas station in Mesa and dragged her after late Thursday.

The woman pulled into the Valero station at 415 E. McKellips Road about midnight in her 1999 gray Isuzu Trooper, and got out of the vehicle to purchase water from a machine in front of the business, leaving her keys in the ignition. The man got inside her vehicle, started it up and proceeded to drive away when the woman grabbed the driver side door and tried to open it. She was dragged a short distance before she was thrown to the ground, police said.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 40s, who is 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs 170 pounds has gray hair and a mustache and was wearing tan pants and a white shirt.

The woman, 27, who suffered scrapes and bruises, was treated by Mesa Fire Department personnel at the scene and transported to a local hospital.
