Jan Brewer's devotion to so-called states' rights is typical of conservatives. They have no hesitation to allow manufacturing of incandescent light bulbs. By definition that would put a state regulatory agency at odds with a federal one. Enforcing immigration law exposes law enforcement officers to charges of violating equal protection (profiling) while performing a job they aren't constitutionally tasked with.

But, "demon weed" is like the Red Scare of the '60s. The mere mention of the word sends the establishment into reactionary fits.

Suddenly "Oh my, the feds might arrest a clerk who sealed the envelope with the dispensing license! The horrors of it all! We better wait, federal law is supreme."

True colors. I love it. Like the Tea Pottiers talking about less government and then receiving their own state-backed license plate.

az2008: I disagree. I guess you didn't read this part:

"may conflict with federal statutes that make a felony to sell, possess or transport marijuana. More to the point, Horne is questioning whether having state employees processing dispensary applications leaves them liable for helping others violate federal law."

Sounds like they are trying to get a ruling BEFORE it becomes a problem later. I call that being proactive.

Hey Masterrogue666. can you answer this question?

How many state employees in the 15 other states with medical marijuana laws have been harrassed, arrested, warned, etc. by Federal authorities?

    (the answer is NONE).

So much for pretending to be proactive, they're breaking the law.

What part of ILLEGAL don't you understand?

You will never get Medical Marijuana in AZ as long as Brewer and Horne are in power.
