A fight over a girl resulted in a man getting stabbed in the back, Chandler police say.

Sgt. Joe Favazzo, Chandler Police Department's public information officer, said Reginald Salinas, a 22-year-old Chandler resident, was booked into the Maricopa County jail suspicion of aggravated assault.

"Basically, it was two guys (that) got into an argument over a girl," Favazzo said.

The stabbing around 2:50 a.m. on Sunday in the 600 block of N. Arrowhead Dr., police said.

"When the victim went to leave, Reginald Salinas stabbed him in the back several times," Favazzo added. "(The) victim was transported to an area hospital, where last I heard he was expected to be released."
