The Tempe Police Department has arrested a suspect in the murder of a 23-year-old woman whose body was left unclothed and without identification on the 1900 block of E. Minton Drive on June 15.

According to a press release sent by the department, 27-year-old Douglas Ray George is booked into the Tempe City Jail on a charge of second-degree murder for allegedly killing his 23-year-old roommate, Annovedwin Begay Barakzai.

Police allege George, who was arrested for assaulting Barakzai at their residence located along the 900 block of E. Baseline Road in June, killed the victim at a different location and drove her body to Minton Drive, where a passer-by discovered her at approximately 4:30 a.m. on June 15. Investigators initially had difficulty identifying the victim because she was left unclothed and without any form of identification, but public assistance helped them discover Barakzai’s identity.
