PHOENIX (AP) — Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio says his office will examine claims by a Tea Party group that's questioning the authenticity of President Barak Obama's birth certificate.
Arpaio says Friday that he'll determine whether he has jurisdiction for such an investigation or whether another agency should handle it.
Arizona Democratic Party spokeswoman Jennifer Johnson says the examination is a publicity stunt and that Arpaio should instead focus on clearing his county's backlog of criminal warrants.
Obama released a copy of his birth certificate in April in an attempt to quell questions about his citizenship.
Many so-called "birthers" contend Obama's birth certificate must be a fake.
Gov. Jan Brewer vetoed a bill in April that would have required presidential candidates to prove their citizenship before their names could appear on the ballot.

It is time for Sheriff Joe to stop this nonsense. He is paid by taxpayers which means he works 24/7 for Maricopa County. He better not be doing this on company time and on our tax dollar. Maybe he will soon be impeached or in prison for his abuses. Hope to see him soon in pink underwear.

I'm not sure why the Tea Party would go to Arpaio, except that Joe may have some Federal connections from past positions he's had. In any event, even if something was found to be questionable, there's nothing that Joe can do directly. He'd have to send said info to the correct agency.
Personally, I think he's just having some fun, and will decide he doesn't have any "jurisdiction". However, since he was approached by taxpayers (from this County) that have a concern they'd like to address, he's REQUIRED to at least check it out.
If Arizona Democratic Party spokeswoman Jennifer Johnson had bothered to check, she know that MCSO is REQUIRED TO RECORD criminal warrants from all agencies in Maricopa. HOWEVER, MCSO isn't the sole agency that is responsible for clearing said warrants.
So, basically, Joe IS DOING what is required of his position.

California attorney Orly Taitz has filed and secured (in Hawaii state court a Petition for Writ of Mandamus) an order from United States District Court Magistrate Judge Richard L. Puglisi demanding representatives of the Hawaii Department of Health to appear in federal court Sept. 14 to show why Taitz should be prevented from seeing whatever original 1961 documents the agency has on record regarding Barack Obama's birth. This will require the Department of Health to turn over to her the original 1961 Obama birth records that the agency has kept from the American public.
A Mandamus action is something to compel an official or government officer to perform a duty demanded by the petitioner. And in this situation, the case is in support of her subpoena for the birth records for the president.
U.S. District Court Judge Richard L. Puglisi ordered a hearing in his courtroom at 10 a.m. on Sept. 14 on Taitz’s motion.

If any of the powers that be actually allowed this investigation to transpire, America would certainly be the laughing stock of the world. I mean, imagine, America electing as president of the USA an illegal alien affirmative action socialist with a name like Barrack Hussein Obama who wasn't even born in The United States. That is why they will never let it move forward. Even if it were proved he wasn't born in America, the supreme court would step in and very eloquently say, so what you voted for him. And as long as he does the bidding of the banks like his predecessor Bush did, he's pretty safe.

"Many" does not mean "All." And I have found no list of issues or principles attributed to any of the several Tea Party movements on their official web site mentioning the so called "birther" movement. So tell me, as a Tea Party member, do you find that your fellow Tea Partiers are birthers?
I think the AP is wrong in stating so!
And here is my prediction. The birth certificate finally produced, the one which embarrased Donald Trump, will be proven genuine. How any thinking and reasoning person could conclude that "the birth certificate must be a fake" is mind boggling. "Must" means it has to be, not that it might be, could be, a likely is a fake. Why does something have to be a fake? The narrative of Barack Obama's life, set forth early in his national political career, supported by all who contemporaneously knew him or his family, demonstrates that in all probability the certificate is genuine, just as the birth announcements contemporaneously published in local Hawaiian Newspapers are genuine.

Dale, there are several anomalies to Obozo's claim to American birth, and he has steadfastly refused to address these concerns for a long time, then he releases a copy of a birth certificate that doesn't look authentic to many independent people who have looked at photocopies of the copy he released lol. It may very well be true that he is in fact a legitimate president, but he sure does act like he has something to hide, and nobody with any real power wants to take a close look for fear of what they might find. There is also the question about his social security number. What was unearthed was that Barrack Obama had been using a Social Security number issued in Connecticut between 1977 and 1979, a state in which he never lived or even visited at that time in his life. It's phony and Obozo has been using it, with it first appearing on his Selective Service document in 1980. In 1977, Obama turned 16 and was living in Hawaii yet he has a social security number who's numbers show it was applied for and issued from Connecticut. The left leaning media, Huffington Post says, "Numbers are assigned based on the return address on the request envelope, not residency." There are some explanations for this anomaly. One is that Obama applied for his SSN as a little boy in Indonesia for no known reason, and the application just happened to be processed in Connecticut for no known reason either.
Obozo appears to have registered for selective service on Sept. 4, 1980, a month after his 19th birthday. The form lists the telling last four digits of his "042" number, "4425." Some have credibly argued that the Selective Service information was forged and backdated once Obama became a presidential candidate. It was stupid to use the Connecticut number on the Selective Service card because now there is no way for Obozo to back out of that number. I personally don't know what the truth is here, but I suspect that what he has stated is a lie. He has been proved to be a habitual, serial liar, and I have no reason to feel I can trust him to tell the truth. I'm also quite sure, as Rose stated, that nothing will be done to ascertain the truth in this matter as it would be an unbearable embarrassment to way too many people.

I might also add that the birth announcements published in local Hawaiian newspapers are only available on microfiche, and they are said to seem altered just like the supposed genuine birth certificate. And while no one is saying Obozo didn't live in Hawaii and many people knew his family, we do suspect that he was not born there, but in either Indonesia or Kenya as his family there says he was. In any case we are stuck with this incompetent community organizer until 2012, and that is something people need to learn to live with as nothing will ever come of this in this country that is no longer of the people, by the people and for the people.

what in the name of ned does arpaio have to do with a birth certificate for the president of the United States? If it was citizen of Maricopa Couty... maybe, you could even stretch it to the whole state of Arizona. This is nothing more than a stunt by our media hound sheriff, period. He has not been in the news for several weeks so this is the best he can come up with I guess. It certainly is outrageous enough.

wdgnas, A photocopy of an original or a photocopy of a copy? lol I'm so old that when I was a child our Conestoga wagon was burnt by Apaches in a raid somewhere in eastern Arizona. (partial fabrication) We settled in what is now Safford, AZ. My uncle was the first white baby born there. As a consequence, of a real fire, my birth certificate as well as all our possessions were lost. What I do have is a notarized duplicate of my birth certificate issued to me from the county of my birth. Do I qualify? Our family fought in the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, the Spanish American War, WW!, WW2, Korea, Vietnam, and lately the middle east wars. We will fight for our country, right or wrong, until there is no nation left to fight for and then we will continue to fight! What can I say, we like to fight.

Which proves that the release of Barack Hussein Obama’s digitally-doctored "long form birth certificate" raises more questions than it answers.
It's "The Surprise Tea Party” (in Surprise, Arizona) that is asking Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio to conduct an investigation into the Obama birth certificate to determine if it is in fact an authentic copy of 1961 birth records on file for Barack Obama at the Hawaii Department of Health in Honolulu or whether it, or they, are forgeries.

Hooray for Sheriff Joe "Tent City" Arpaio on this one...but Persecutors from Honolulu, HI are ahead of him on ODUMBO's fake birth certificate in the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals...They've proved it's a FAKE birth certificate phonied_up by the State of HI Dept of Health & Vital Stat's using a blank birth certificate form (not available when ODUMBO was supposedly "hatched" in 1970s} using Adobe Illustrator to cut_&_paste fake info in the document...LOL!!!
