Police seek 3 in attempted heist

Mesa police are looking for three men who tried to rob a bank Thursday morning and pointed handguns at employees and customers.

The crime occurred at Chase Bank, 1761 W. Baseline Road, at about 10:30 a.m., police said. One of the assailants approached a teller, but he discovered the teller was surrounded by bandit-barrier glass, and the men ran away.

All three men were wearing hooded sweat shirts, gloves and bandannas over their faces. They all had semi-automatic handguns. Police said one man was black, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, 150 to 170 pounds and in his 20s. Another man was black or Hispanic, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall and 200 to 220 pounds. Another man was black, 6 feet 2 inches tall and 190 pounds.

Surveillance footage couldn’t be reproduced clearly in the newspaper.
