"May 30, 1868 was the first observation of Decoration Day." . . . This was observed in 1868 to commemorate the sacrifice of Civil War soldiers.
The Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. is the resting place for more than 260,000 veterans from all of the nation's wars.
Pause to remember fallen veterans this Memorial Day. It is the holiday that honors all those who made the ultimate sacrifice in military service to their country. Make every day Memorial Day by honoring fallen fellow soldiers from the past, and say a prayer for the warriors and their families.
