MESA -- Mesa police say they shot a man who pointed a gun at officers. The shooting happened Sunday night near Brown Road and Granite Reef Park in east Mesa.

The police department says it began receiving calls about a person driving a pickup truck erratically through Mesa. Two officers spotted the driver and followed. The driver crashed into a wall and police say when he got out, he pointed a gun at police.

Officers opened fire, wounding the driver. The man, who has not been identified, is listed in critical but stable condition. None of the officers were hurt.
