Police arrested Jose Urias Garcia, 43, Thursday morning on suspicion of shoplifting from a Mervyn’s department store, fleeing law enforcement and then breaking into a home to hide.
Police said they saw Garcia exit a Food City near the Mervyn’s store on the corner of Main Street and Stapley Drive and followed him as he fled the area on bicycle.
He was arrested at a home on Matlock Street, which he entered by force, several blocks from the commercial area.
Garcia also was wanted on a felony warrant for a drug charge. Police said he was arrested in connection with a variety of misdemeanor and felony charges.
