With the holidays upon us, it’s that time of year when we feel the urge to do something good for someone else. And what could warm your heart more than doing something to brighten the life of a child in need? The Maricopa County Head Start Zero-Five Program is hoping local groups, businesses or organizations will consider organizing a pajama/book drive for the little ones it serves.

Most of the families whose children take part in Head Start live at or below the federal poverty level. So Head Start would like to be able to give each child a new pair of pajamas and a book. Pajamas for boys and girls ages birth to 5 are needed, although the majority of the children are ages 3 to 5. And books are needed in both English and Spanish.

For more information on how your group can organize a pajama/book drive for the Head Start kids, call Lindsey James at (480) 464-9669, ext. 295. For more information about Head Start, visit http://www.hsd.maricopa.gov/headstart online.
