A man wanted on numerous outstanding warrants was arrested after a brief standoff with Mesa SWAT officers on Saturday when he refused to come out of his home.

Jeremy Slater, 29, who was wanted on suspicion of auto theft, felony flight and aggravated assault on officers warrants, again fled from police when officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on him near his home in the 100 block of North Sunaire about 2:30 p.m. Saturday, according to police.

Slater, who has eluded Mesa, Department of Public Safety and Apache Junction officers, was located by officers at his home, and booked into the Apache Junction Jail because he had more outstanding warrants there than in the other jurisdictions.

Slater was sentenced to one year in prison for a theft conviction, but was released in August after he was incarcerated for five months, according to prison records.
