More than 700 people have participated in Pinal County’s Comprehensive Plan update — but county officials want to hear from more.

The county has scheduled a third series of six workshops to boost public participation in molding the county’s plan for growth and development.

Planning and Development director David Kuhl said these workshops allow residents’ ideas to have maximum impact on the plan.

“We want people to attend. It’s not too late to be involved,” Kuhl said. “Comprehensive planning is a chance to chart the future of Pinal County, and this is a chance for the public to have a say in what that future will be.”

At the upcoming workshops, residents will help design a land use and transportation plan for the future of Pinal County.

“This is a really important activity because folks are going to get the chance to get a pen and paper and get working to design what they want the future of Pinal County to look like,” said Audra Koester Thomas, senior associate for the project.

“We’re not expecting folks to come and listen, we’re expecting folks to come in and act.”

Those interested in participating can register online at www.pinalcountyplan.com

or by calling Thomas at (480) 816-1811.

Those preregistered will receive an information packet in advance of the event. Registration is not required but will expedite meeting sign-in.
