A doctor has been re-arrested on suspicion of eight additional counts of sexual abuse and two counts of sexual assault, according to a news release issued by Mesa police.

Dr. Gabriel Ogbonnaya was originally arrested June 9 when two female patients reported that he touched them inappropriately. Since then, six more victims have come forward. All are adult females who do not know each other.

Detectives have taken more than 25 calls regarding Ogbonnaya since his original arrest, according to the release, and detectives have been consulting with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

On Friday, police found Ogbonnaya locked in his office and after several minutes of negotiation, he was taken into custody, the release said. Ogbonnaya was taken to Mesa police headquarters, where he was booked in connection with two counts of sexual assault and three counts of sexual abuse. Five additional counts of sexual abuse have been added to his original arrest.
