East Valley drivers will want to double-check their driving plans this weekend to avoid two freeway closures.
The closures will hit one of the busiest sections of Interstate 10 and part of Loop 202. Crews will be laying down noise-reducing rubberized asphalt on both.
Eastbound I-10 will close from 9 p.m today to 5 a.m. Monday between U.S. 60 and Ray Road.
Drivers will be detoured east on U.S. 60, then south on Loop 101 and sent back west on the Santan Freeway stretch of Loop 202.
The Red Mountain Freeway stretch of westbound Loop 202 will close from 7 p.m Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday between 32nd Street and the I-10/state Route 51 Interchange.
Drivers headed west will be forced to exit the 202 at 32nd Street but are asked to exit before that. Alternate westbound streets include Washington Street and McDowell Road.
