As one in three Arizonans take to the roadways to celebrate the year-end holidays, AAA Arizona anticipates that it will come to the aid of 12,800 stranded motorists between Dec. 23 and Jan. 2 — an increase of 6 percent over the same period last year.
“With Arizona projected to produce the second-highest auto travel volume in the past 10 years, we’re preparing to assist even more stranded sleigh drivers and get them back on their merry ways,” said Don Nunnari, vice president of automotive and travel services for AAA Arizona.
Before taking to the road, the auto club recommends that drivers conduct a pre-trip check list. The list should include: tires, battery, belts and hoses. Motorists should also keep a car care kit in their vehicle that includes: a flashlight, flares, jumper cables, a basic repair kit, first-aid kit, nonperishable food items and water, as well as warm clothes, blankets and kitty litter, which can help give your vehicle traction in snow or mud. A kit can be compiled at home or purchased at any AAA office.
