The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, working with the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, will conduct a DUI task force on Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m., the sheriff’s office said over the weekend.
Lt. Tamatha Villar said the operation “will be a multi-agency detail focusing on impaired drivers related to the Country Thunder music event.”
Law enforcement agencies participating in the Pinal County DUI Task Force will include the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, Arizona Department of Public Safety and the Casa Grande, Gila River, Apache Junction, Coolidge, Florence, Eloy and Ak-Chin police departments, among others, according to the report.
“The Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, Pinal County Sheriff’s Office and agencies throughout the state are fully committed to making the streets of our communities safer through aggressive impaired driving enforcement and continued education,” Villar said in the release.
“Drunk drivers kill or injure thousands of people every year destroying families and their own lives,” said Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu. “The efforts of the officers who volunteer for these task force deployments make the roads of Pinal County safer.”
