The Gilbert Unified School District governing board is expected to approve a proposed 2009-10 budget at a 6 p.m. meeting Tuesday at the district office, 140 S. Gilbert Road.
District officials estimate a $25.5 million budget deficit, although they are still waiting for the state to approve its budget.
Among the dozens of announced budget cuts, 275 positions were cut throughout the district because of class size changes and the realignment of several programs, including reducing art, music and physical education for kindergartners.
After the board meeting, board members will have a work study session to review community education fees.
