Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced on Tuesday that Matthew Allen will be the new special agent in charge for the agency's Arizona operations.
Allen, who was in charge of ICE's financial, narcotics and public safety division in Washington, D.C., replaces Alonzo Peña, who held the position for 16 months. Peña is leaving ICE for another job, according to the agency.
As the largest investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security, ICE agents in Arizona are responsible for investigating criminal activity such as human smuggling, illegal hiring practices, money laundering, narcotics and weapons trafficking, financial crimes and fraud.
