A Mesa woman was sentenced to more than two years in federal prison for stealing more than $600,000 from her former employer where she worked as an office manager.
Yolanda Enos, 46, was sentenced to 27 months in prison on Wednesday in U.S. District Court.
Enos admitted that from January 2002 to January 2006 she stole approximately $649,675 while working as the office manager at JR’s Convenience Store, 1601 N. Beeline Highway on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.
In addition to prison time, Enos was ordered to pay $649,675 in restitution and perform 100 hours of community service.
Enos, whose work was never audited, would take random amounts of money from the cashier’s envelopes ranging from $50 to $4,400 during many days she worked, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Days before the business owners were considering to close the business due to revenue concerns, their son had inadvertently discovered the thefts after realizing a bank deposit he prepared was $100 short, authorities said.
