in 1985 I installed an inground vinyl lined pool The supports for the pool were fiberglass. My pool is still operational except for having to replace the liners due to contaminants blown into the pool. One of my neighbors had a similar pool with steel supports installed a year before mine. Their pool lasted less than five years before the steel was eaten up by the Arizona soil. (Alkalinity?) Something to consider before spending $39M!

Aint that more than the Hover Dam.
why not build a cheap ordinary reservoir Dam with gates like everyone else in the nation.

Loose the balloons get iron gates. raise and lower them at will..

I know but how will we justify millions spent over engineering the project.

Time to fire the cronies friends.

I do not like the suggestion that all of Tempe pay for this cesspool via Bonds. Sell it off and let the new owners worry how to pay for the upkeep. Then the people who use the facilities will pay the real cost of this folly.
