The Chandler Care Center at San Marcos Elementary School received a $1,000 grant from Wal-Mart to provide eye exams and glasses to about a dozen students, said care center director Susan Horan.

The store, at Arizona Avenue near Loop 202, will help children who have had to go without corrective glasses, Horan said. To demonstrate the need, Horan said at one school there are 11 children who failed recent school-administered eye exams but cannot afford glasses.
