The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Phoenix has named a new community outreach director to coordinate efforts to help reduce crime and strengthen positive relations with law enforcement among diverse communities.

Jesus Manuel Tarango, who formerly was director of regulatory affairs and federal relations with Phoenix-based Mario Diaz and Associates, a bipartisan government relations and public affairs firm since 2007, was appointed the office’s community outreach director by U.S. Attorney Dennis Burke, according to a statement issued Tuesday by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

“Manny Tarango has a history of promoting positive relationships within the intergovernmental community and with Spanish-speaking communities and groups in Arizona,” Burke said in a statement. “I look forward to working with him to reach out to the plurality of groups that make up Arizona, and to promote relationships between residents, community organizations and law enforcement that strengthen public safety and mutual understanding in our state.”
