Police are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the driver from a hit-and-run crash responsible for the death of a 32-year-old bicyclist late Saturday.

The man was killed as he was riding his motorized bicycle east on Southern Avenue into the Rural Road intersection about 11:45 p.m. when someone driving a newer model gold or champagne-colored Ford Taurus or Mercury Sable struck him, according to Tempe police.

The driver of the car was turning onto Rural Road from Southern Avenue when he hit the bicyclist, who later was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The victim's name has not been released, pending notification of relatives.

The car is missing the passenger side mirror and it also has damage to the front passenger side of the vehicle.

If anyone has any information or sees a car that fits the description, they can call Tempe police at (480) 350-8311 or Silent Witness at (480) 948-6377.
