There is truly an excitement in the air as the holiday season begins! Traditions include baking cookies, attending festive parties and, of course, playing in the snow. Let’s not forget about kids thinking about what they are going to ask Santa Claus to bring them! What about the families that need a little extra help this season? ABC15 is proud to once again partner with Sanderson Ford and Sanderson Lincoln to be part of the annual Operation Santa Claus Charity Drive. The first ten years have resulted in a record number of donations for Valley children’s charities with over 50,000 donations to date.

This year’s charities are MAM (Military Assistance Mission), Phoenix Children’s Hospital, SARRC (Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center) and St. Mary’s Food Bank.

To help with our cause please bring a new unwrapped toy, children’s clothing item, packaged food or a monetary donation to:

• ABC15, 515 N. 44th St., Phoenix, AZ 85008

• Sanderson Ford, 6400 N. 51st Ave., Glendale, AZ 85301

• Sanderson Lincoln, 2121 W. Bell Road, Phoenix, AZ 85023

• The UPS Store nearest you (over 120 locations)

Donations can also be made online at GiveToTheClaus.com.

Operation Santa Claus will be accepting donations through December 20.

With each accepted donation, you will have the opportunity to be one of 15 finalists to win your choice of a new Ford F-150 Super Crew Ecoboost or the all new 2013 LINCOLN MKZ. Each finalist will win a $100 Visa gift card and a key. The finalist with the key that starts the truck will win the new Ford F-150 or LINCOLN MKZ. Fifteen key winners will try their keys live on Sonoran Living Live beginning at 9 a.m. Dec. 21 on ABC15.

“The problem of meeting the needs of the less fortunate has become even more challenging given the current economic situation,” said Max Sirstins of Sanderson Ford and Sanderson Lincoln. “More families than ever before are seeking assistance and support from human service organizations struggling to meet the demand. We want to make a big difference and help as many people as possible through Operation Santa Claus.”

ABC15 will also have a series of activities throughout the next several weeks for Operation Santa Claus, including our annual “Claus-a-thon” on Dec. 5. It’s a mega-day for our charity, where ABC15 and our partners crisscross the Valley to encourage donations. The Claus-a-thon will culminate from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. as ABC15 anchors challenge each other to see who can raise the most donations on live TV. ABC15 will also have a phone bank that day from 4:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. that will give viewers the opportunity to donate to the cause.

“ABC15 considers it an honor and privilege to serve our community,” said Anita Helt, vice-president and general manager at ABC15. “We are proud to be a partner with Operation Santa Claus, providing a meaningful way for the people of Arizona to deliver food, clothing and toys to families in need during the holiday season. The people of Arizona are caring folks and the success of Operation Santa Claus every year is a testament to their compassion.”
