A 21-year-old Globe resident was killed in a four-car, chainreaction crash Monday on Loop 101 near Broadway Road in Tempe.

Shortly before 7 p.m., Charles Condit was stopped on the freeway in his 1999 Chevrolet when he was rear-ended by a 1995 Ford driven by 37-year-old Richard Berns of Chandler, said Arizona Department of Public Safety officer Steve Volden.

Condit’s car then struck a 1998 Honda driven by Cheryl Dorsett, a 40-year-old Chandler resident, and a 1973 GMC pickup truck driven by Mesa resident Estanislro Hernandez, whose age is unknown, Volden said. Berns, Dorsett, Hernandez and their passengers suffered minor injuries, Volden said. Once the investigation is complete, a case will be submitted to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office for possible charges, Volden said.
