Two men carjacked another man Tuesday night after displaying red and blue lights and getting him to pull off Loop 202 in the northwestern part of the city, according to press release from Mesa police.
The reporting party said he was stopped by a dark-colored sedan with red and blue lights in the rear. Two men, who the victim described as wearing vests like those of police officers, got out of their car and forced the victim, at gunpoint, to surrender his vehicle, the release said. The suspects fled with the victim's vehicle.
Mesa Police Department is reminding people to use caution when pulling over for vehicles that are "not immediately recognizable as police cars." If someone is trying to stop your car, you should drive to a well-lit area where other people are around before stopping.
"If the vehicle attempting to make the stop is a bona fide police vehicle, it will follow and make the stop there," according to the news release.
