A woman is making a plea for the return of an urn containing her mother's ashes that was stolen during a vehicle burglary in Chandler on Tuesday.

The urn, which is heart-shaped silver with three doves etched into it and about the size of a softball, was inside a Dr. Seuss backpack. It was stolen during the burglary about 8 p.m. in the parking lot near Roy's Restaurant, 7151 W. Ray Road, after the woman's Chevy Cavalier was broken into, according to police.

The woman told police she takes the urn with her everywhere so she has a constant reminder of her mother.

The backpack, which was purchased by the victim's mother before she passed away, is black with red strings and has the characters Thing 1 and Thing 2 on it.

A laptop computer and the victim's purse also were stolen.

The woman would like nothing more than to have these items immediately returned to her.

Anyone with information regarding this incident can call police at (480) 782-4130. The urn and backpack may also be anonymously returned to the Chandler Police Department.
