The 17-month-old boy who was found unconscious and floating in the lake at Kiwanis Park has been identified as Salvador Duenas, police said Monday.

Salvador was listed in critical condition Monday at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix. The boy was with his mother at a birthday party held in the park Saturday afternoon when he slipped away from the group.

His mother found him in the lake and pulled him from the water. Greg Carmichael, who works with the vending company that runs the park’s boat rentals, provided CPR until paramedics arrived.
