The Lewis state prison in Buckeye was placed under lockdown Wednesday morning after a fight broke out between a number of inmates, injuring a corrections officer and three inmates, a spokesman for the Arizona Department of Corrections said.
None of the injuries was life-threatening.
The corrections officer was struck in the back with a broom handle when the fight broke out about 9 a.m. It lasted about 10 minutes, according to spokesman Barrett Marson.
The cause of the fight was not immediately known, and an investigation into the incident was continuing, Marson said.
