A winter storm is expected to bring snow and strong wind throughout much of Arizona on Sunday.

Weather officials issued a hazardous weather advisory for parts of central, western and northern Arizona, warning that significant snow will accumulate on the southwestern slopes of the Mogollon Rim, the South Rim of the Grand Canyon and over the Kaibab Plateau.

Gusts up to 35 mph will also cause areas of blowing and drifting snow, limiting driver visibility above 6,000 feet.

A winter weather advisory for snow continues until 6 p.m. Sunday for elevations above 6,000 to 6,500 feet. The advisory area includes Flagstaff, the South Rim and the Kaibab Plateau.

A wind advisory is in affect for much of eastern Arizona, including Window Rock, Show Low, and Pinetop, until 7 p.m.
