Stretches of four Valley freeways will close for part or all of the weekend - Loop 101, interstates 10 and 17 and state Route 143.
Each closure could trigger long backups, so the Arizona Department of Transportation urges drivers to exit well before the closure or to use another road. This weekend's major freeway restrictions:
The Loop 101 Pima Freeway will close in both directions from 56th Street to Scotts-dale Road from 10 p.m. today to 5 a.m. Monday. The closure includes the westbound on-ramps at Hayden and Scottsdale roads and eastbound on-ramps at Tatum Boulevard and 56th Street.
Northbound Route 143 will close from University Drive to Van Buren Street from 11 p.m. today to 5 a.m. Monday. Drivers trying to reach Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport can access it from the Buckeye Road exit on I-10.
Westbound I-10 will close from Seventh Street to Seventh Avenue from11 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday. Also, westbound Loop 202 and southbound state Route 51 ramps to westbound I-10 will close.
Westbound I-10 will be narrowed to one lane from Avondale Boulevard to Dysart Road from 11 p.m. Saturday to9 a.m. Sunday.
Northbound I-17 will close between Rose Garden Lane and Pinnacle Peak Road from 10 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday.
