Gilbert has narrowed its town manager search to five finalists, with interviews scheduled for June 17-18.
Assistant town manager Marc Skocypec is the lone remaining in-house candidate. The other finalists are:
• David Andrews, Scottsdale assistant town manager.
• Patrick Banger, a consulting firm owner and former city manager of O'Fallon, Mo.
• Thomas DeSantis, a management consultant and former Riverside, Calif., city manager.
• Tim Pickering, former Fountain Hills manager and current interim manager of Tusayan, a recently-incorporated town near the Grand Canyon.
On June 17, the five will receive a "problem assignment" and present a solution to the Council. That session will take place 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Council Chambers and is open to the public.
The seating of the new Council was moved to June 14 from June 23 to accommodate the manager interview process. Incumbent Ben Cooper and challengers Eddie Cook, Victor Petersen and Jordan Ray were victorious in the recent Council elections.
On June 18, candidates will be interviewed by three panels: the Council, executive team and community. Outgoing Council members Linda Abbott, Dave Crozier and Les Presmyk are expected to participate on the community panel.

Thanks so much for using "all caps," Leon. Not only does it make it easier for the reader to understand your point, it's not at all annoying. [thumbdown]
