Individual taxpayers who requested an extension to file their 2010 income tax returns have until Monday to do so electronically. After midnight Monday, Oct. 17, taxpayers will only be able to submit a paper tax return for 2010.
An estimated 239,000 Arizonans requested the extension to file for this year. Nationally, the IRS expects to receive about 10.7 million tax returns from taxpayers who used Form 4868 to request the six-month extension.
Arizona taxpayers still have time to file on time and can do so for free, online, by using IRS Free File, which can be reached by going to IRS.gov and clicking on the Free File icon. Some taxpayers can wait until after Oct. 17 to file, including those serving in Iraq, Afghanistan or other combat zone localities and people affected by recent natural disasters.
