One of north Scottsdale’s most luxurious neighborhoods is getting its first place to do commerce.
Construction has begun on Canyon Village, a 4.5-acre boutique office and retail development adjacent to Silverleaf, the private DC Ranch community of 700 homes on 2,000 acres.
The 100,000-square-foot development will be the first commercial project related to Silverleaf. Developer DMB & Associates expects Canyon Village’s offices to be popular with urban professionals looking for an intimate village-style setting.
“It really relates to . . . the people who live up there and where they would want to work if they had the opportunity to choose where they have their own office,” said Robert Mayhew, DMB vice president.
“It has retail in it so you’ll have two restaurants and some other service retail so it really feels like a little bit of a commercial enclave in a very small scale,” he said.
Canyon Village will be built on the northeast corner of the Union Hills Drive and Thompson Peak Parkway intersection, north of the DC Ranch Village Health Club and Spa. It is expected to be completed in the fall of 2007.
Instead of a T-intersection, the development will allow visitors to cross Union Hills into a small park setting. The park will be fronted by the health club, some homes and Canyon Village.
A parking deck will be built in the back. The development will be done in formal Mediterranean architecture and feature courtyards and fountains.
Canyon Village’s first tenants will be two DMB entities, Silverleaf Realty and DMB Realty.
