    Last year was a good year in regards to Officer in line of Duty death. 2009 -127, 2008- 145, 2007-196. (figures taken from the Officer Down Memorial Page). I question the MPA figures, since 69 have already died this year across the nation. I would guess the the final total will be closer to 2009 figures than 2008 come December 31st.

    It sounds better if the union makes it look like more officers are dying. The statements of Cota and his girlfriend Dillon no doubt are meant to try and create a better image for Cota who is under investigation for lying and trying to fix a meet and confer election. Deaths by gunfire are up 26%. Traffic incidents are only up by 3%. In a category called "other causes" the numbers are up from 6 to 11 for an 83% jump.
