Tempe officials are expected large crowds and lots of traffic on Saturday, thanks to a big football game at Arizona State University's Sun Devil Stadium and numerous other public events in the Phoenix suburb.

ASU will be hosting Stanford in the Pac-12 championship game. Other events include two NCAA women's basketball games at ASU, a swim festival and two showings of the musical "Evita." Plus there's the ASU Arts Festival on Mill Avenue.

City officials recommend that people traveling to Tempe arrival early and use park-and-ride lots and take light rail.

For more information on the light rail schedule or a route map visit valleymetro.org . Parking validations from Mill Avenue District businesses will not be accepted on event days.

Tempe police is encouraging motorists who are attending the arts festival to come in from the west side, specifically using Priest to University or Priest to Rio Salado. Police said drivers should use the parking structures along Ash and the structure near Mill and Rio Salado.

If you are traveling to the festival from a different direction, alternate routes are available at tempefestivalofthearts.com . Parking is available from $10 to $20 and a list of lots is on millavenue.com .

Parking is also available along Rio Salado Parkway, University Drive, Ash and College Avenue. There is FREE disabled access parking in the US Airways Garage on Ash Avenue south of Rio Salado and the City of Tempe Municipal Garage at 5th and Forest Avenue.

Tempe police said pass holders should approach from the east using Scottsdale and Rural Road, Rio Salado from McClintock and University. Drivers entering from the west should use Priest to Rio Salado.

Public Parking is available as the Hayden Ferry Structure near Mill and Rio Salado. There are also several ASU lots, include a large cash lot near Athletes Way and University.

ASU lots start at $40 and open three and a half hours before kickoff. More information at asu.edu .

Traffic will be heavy at the conclusion of the show. Exiting traffic will be directed southbound on Mill Avenue or eastbound on Apache Blvd.

Motorists should expect delays traveling to each of these events and should yourself extra time.

To get to the ASU Gammage building, visitors arriving from the west will also want to exit on Priest Drive, take a left on University and a right on Mill Avenue to avoid the Arts Festival road closure.
