The Apache Junction Police Department is offering a $1,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for stealing letters off the city entry sign.

Police spokesperson Constance Halonen said on December 28, police were called to the intersection of Old West Highway and Goldfield Road to investigate after someone found bronze letters missing off the entry sign to the city.

Halonen said the majority of the cast bronze lettering was removed from the sign

Police believe the burglary took place sometime overnight. Authorities said it is the third city entry sign to have letters stolen.

Halonen said on Sunday, January 6th, police officers responded to another theft, this time copper lettering was stolen from a local church.

A reward of up to $1,000 will be given for information leading to the arrest of the individual(s) involved.

If you have any information, please contact the Apache Junction Police Department at 480-474-8260.
