The Bible took centuries to put together. Producer Mark Burnett's take weighs in at 10 hours.

In the massive miniseries (debuting 8 p.m. EST Sunday, History) about the Good Book, Burnett -- the man behind such backstabbing efforts as "Survivor" and "Celebrity Apprentice" -- hits many of the high points of the Old Testament and the ministry of Jesus Christ.

"The Bible" will run for the next five weeks, ending Easter night.

The first night's installment alone spotlights Abraham, Moses and Joshua, with flashbacks to Adam and Eve and Noah thrown into context.

The special effects are nothing short of spectacular, none more so than the grand parting of the Red Sea, the escape route for Moses and the Israelites fleeing from the Egyptians.

Stating up front that the miniseries "endeavors to stay true to the spirit of the book," "The Bible" is grand yet so painfully human and universal.

Narrator Keith David deems Abraham a man who "must prove his faith again and again." "The Bible," in all its splendor, does it with each tale it weaves.

Other highlights for the week of March 3-9 (listings subject to change):

SUNDAY

-- "Red Widow" (9 p.m., ABC). In this new crime drama, an affluent suburban wife takes on the mob she suspects killed her husband. Handling such a task might be more than she bargained for.

-- "All-Star Celebrity Apprentice" (9 p.m., NBC). How do you have an "all-star" edition when you barely know who the stars are? Gary Busey and Lisa Rinna are back with other past contestants to play for charity.

MONDAY

-- "The Bachelor: The Women Tell All" (8 p.m., ABC). Now that bachelor Sean has had his say about how the season went for him, the women reunite to tell their side. The finale airs March 11.

TUESDAY

-- "Celebrity Wife Swap" (8 p.m., ABC). The significant others of rapper Coolio and rocker Mark McGrath trade families. Headaches result.

THURSDAY

-- "American Idol" (8 p.m., Fox). Divas, start your engines. The finalists are revealed, and the battle for the season winner's crown really revs up.

SATURDAY

-- "Flying Monkeys" (9 p.m., Syfy). A girl's pet monkey turns out to be an evil shape-shifter. Wait until PETA finds out!
