New Song Center for Grieving Children is offering free training to become a grief support volunteer.
The center provides grief support for children and families who have experienced the death of a loved one. The program helps families cope with grief and loss through sharing stories and experiences, as well as art, music and recreation.
Volunteer orientation begins April 26, but volunteers need to apply in advance.
The program requires 25 hours of training and a one-year commitment from volunteers.
The five class series will run from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on April 28, April 30 and May 1, concluding with an all-day session on May 3.
