Students at TempeÕs Gethsemane Lutheran School packed more than 200 boxes Thursday morning for Operation Christmas Child. The students, families and the church community donated supplies such as pencils, toothbrushes, coloring books, toys, candy and more to put in the boxes. Earlier this fall, during the service project kickoff, the students at the private school heard from a young lady who received an Operation Christmas Child box when she was in an orphanage in Romania. The next day, she learned she was adopted and she is now an American citizen carrying her story across the country to encourage involvement in the annual program. [Michelle Reese/ Tribune]
