Kristina Batchelder Reese stands inside what once was Roller World at 1625 E. Weber Driver in Tempe where she was supposed to meet her friend, Christy Ann Fornoff the weekend of May 11, 1984 when Fornoff was killed while collecting subscription payments on her newspaper route at the Rock Point Apartments. Reese and Fornoff were classmates at McKemy Junior High before Fornoff’s family moved to another part of Tempe and Christy began attending Connolly Middle School. The former roller rink building now houses Evolution Motorsports, a European Exotic car shop and University Mechanical, an engineering company where a mural from the skating rink still exists.
