Former Tribune photographer Toru Kawana is helping his mother, Takako Kawana, in Japan in the aftermath of a devastating earthquake, tsunami and fear of a nuclear plant meltdown close to where she lives. Also pictured is Kawan’s sister, Seiko Kakurai.
