The dogs were brought to the shelter after they had to evacuate their home due to the Track Fire buring near Raton. The Track fire had grown to 6,000 acres by Monday afternoon, less than a day after it was first reported. It destroyed seven structures, including outbuildings and hunting cabins, and damaged Raton's watershed before crossing into Colorado by evening.
