If you’re between the ages of 7 and 14 and have a passion for writing, Childsplay — Arizona’s professional theatre company for children and their families — is looking for three Kid Reporters for its 2014-2015 season. In exchange for writing articles that will be published on Childsplay’s Kid Reporter blog (and possibly some local newspapers, including GetOutAZ), each Kid Reporter will enjoy an “insider’s” package at the theatre that includes:

• Two free seats to a Childsplay performance (for the Reporter and one guardian).

• An exclusive backstage interview with members of the cast backstage.

• A backstage tour with a member of the cast or crew.

• Their name announced as Kid Reporter for the day during the preshow announcement.

• Special “Press Pass” (which includes their photo) to wear and have as a keepsake.

• A special Childsplay keepsake photo album filled with signed photos from the cast for the show they review.

• Additionally, the Kid Reporter will be invited to tour the KPNX (Channel 12) news offices to see get a behind-the-scenes look at a TV newsroom.

Those interested should email Samantha Johnstone at SJohnstone@childsplayaz.org by 10 a.m. Thursday, July 17, with the following: child’s name, age, and a brief description — written by the child — of why they want to be one of Childsplay’s Kid Reporters, along with a parent or guardian’s name, phone number and email address.

An email notification will be sent to everyone who submitted an application when the reporters are chosen. More information is available at (480) 921-5700 or childsplayaz.org.
